AstraZeneca have cut vaccine supplies to EU member states by 60 per cent.
The European Commission has expressed its 'deep dissatisfaction' with AstraZeneca.
The company announced it's cutting vaccine supplies to member states by 60 percent.
AstraZeneca says it's because of reduced production at its manufacturing site.
The issue will likely affect deliveries to Ireland, which could be smaller and later than expected.
Sinn Fein's Health spokesperson David Cullinane has called on the Health Minister to clarify the situation.
He says, "It raises question marks in relation to information that was given from AstraZeneca to the European Commission and to the Government.
"I think it is incumbent on Stephen Donnelly as Minister for Health to set out what information was given to him and how many doses we were supposed to get in this quarter, and now what this news means for the vaccine roll-out."
The European Union also says that member states need to check five percent of positive Covid-19 tests for different variants.
Currently Ireland is sequencing one percent.
European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen says the European Centre for Disease Control will help with capacity if needed.
1,846 people are now in hospital with Covid-19 a slight reduction on the previous 24 hours.
However the numbers in ICUs continues to rise, with 215 patients currently receiving critical care.
Almost all surge capacity in the public system is being used - with 345 ICU beds open and staffed.
28 were available as of last night.
