Appeal launched after statue stolen from WB Yeats' burial site

The bronze sculpture has gone missing.

A garda appeal has been launched after a statue was stolen from the site where WB Yeats is buried.

The bronze sculpture has gone missing from the car park at the burial grounds in Drumcliffe, Co Sligo.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen the statue or knows of its whereabouts.

A garda spokesperson said: "This bronze sculpture has been stolen from the main car park in Drumcliffe, Co Sligo . The car park is just off the main Sligo - Donegal Road.

"It forms part of a larger piece displaying the poem "He wishes for the cloths of heaven" by W.B.Yeats."
