There has been 617 new Covid-19 cases and 5 virus related deaths confirmed today in the Republic of Ireland.
This follows the news that WHO that Ireland shouldn't accept a rise in Covid cases will lead to an immediate return to lockdown.
It says countries apply proper testing, contact tracing and a fast turnaround of results could avoid the major restrictions.
The HSE says that 19,000 Covid-19 tests were carried out yesterday, which is a new daily record.
Dr Mike Ryan from the WHO says a good testing system is one way to help avoid another lockdown.
