David Schwimmer who played Ross in friends has responded to suggestions that he bears a strong resemblance to an alleged thief in Blackpool, making clear he was in nowhere near the scene of the crime.
Lancashire constabulary had been inundated with comments from social media users after its Facebook posting of the suspect leaving a restaurant carrying what looked like a crate of cans.
Facebook users quickly piled into the comments section to point out the suspect looked like David Schwimmer's character Ross from the sitcom Friends.
David decided to have some fun of his own posting this hilarious video on his twitter account.
Officers, I swear it wasn't me.
As you can see, I was in New York.
To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.#itwasntme pic.twitter.com/EDFF9dZoYR— schwim (@DavidSchwimmer) October 24, 2018
The Blackpool Thief aka Ross Geller's Doppelganger.
Maybe if he'd pivoted, the camera wouldn't have caught him...
The internet is losing it's mind over a picture posted by Blackpool Police, asking for assistance locating a man who stole something from a restaurant in the Blackpool area.
However, the serious post quickly turned into one big global joke after people noted the wanted man shares a striking likeness to everyone's favorite paleontologist, Ross from friends.
The post has gone completely viral, at the time of publishing it'd gathered 67-thousand shares and 103-thousand comments since being posted on Tuesday morning.
And some of the comments are outstanding:
One person wrote: ''I don't think it's been this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year....''
Another said: ''Okay to be fair, the cashier WAS on a break.''
While a third added: ''Give him a break, he grew up with Monica... he he didn't steal, he didn't eat!''
A forth noted: ''Hey i know this guy! I think I last saw him staring out his apartment window screaming "get off my sister!"
In response to the hilarious comments, Blackpool Police said: ''Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We're so sorry it has to be this way.''
We hope he's caught! Before he steals anything else... Sandwich shop owners should be on particularly high alert.
