Investigations are ongoing into how the incident happened
The body of a woman killed after being hit by a train in Co. Sligo remains at the scene of the tragedy this morning.
She has been named locally as Jessica McLoughlin.
Jessica was from Sligo town and aged in her 40's.
A second woman aged in her 20's is still in a serious condition in hospital.
Investigations are underway into how the incident involving the 3.05 pm service from Sligo to Dublin happened.
Around 100 passengers were on board the Irish Rail carriages at the time, and the Dublin to Sligo service will operate bus transfers between Boyle and Sligo in both directions until the line is full reopened.
Local Councillor in the area Thomas Healy says people there are numb.
"There's a lot of people in the area - we're a very close community down here in Ballisodare and Collooney - and when the first [news] came through we didn't know who it was or what it was.
"We just knew that there was a bad accident on the railway line."
He continued, "Seeing passengers coming off the train, there was a lot of people that were really annoyed and upset at what happened.
"They didn't know what was going on,"
