Emergency services are now battling wildfires in more European holiday destinations.

Fires are raging near the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, and in a national park close to the Portuguese resort of Cascais.

Wildfires are also being fought in parts of Spain and Italy.

Thousands of tourist are still being evacuated from the Greek Islands of Rhodes, Corfu and Evia.

There has been no specific travel advice for Irish tourists from the Department of Foreign Affairs, other than to avoid affected areas.

Eoghan Corry Editor of Air and Travel says no-one is legally entitled to a refund, if flights are still departing:

‘There is no timeline to when the heatwave will come to an end.’

‘There is no consumer rights, so there’s no absolute right to cancel that holiday or reschedule.’

‘You’re depending on a sympathetic ear.’
