Cabinet has agreed that vaccinated air passengers will no longer need to have a negative COVID-19 test result to enter Ireland
Back in December, the Government required all passengers to have a negative test for the virus when the Omicron variant first emerged.
Now that Omicron is the dominant variant in the country and responsible for 95% of cases, Government has dropped the requirement.
Passengers travelling to Ireland by sea or air will still need to produce their EU Digital Covid Certs - to show that they are recovered or fully vaccinated.
However, people arriving into the country who are unvaccinated must still have proof of either a negative PCR or an antigen test.
An exact date still needs to be set, but the new rule could be introduced as soon as tomorrow.
This depends on an agreement reached by Cabinet today.
The Government said all travel rules were temporary and would be kept under constant review.
