Two people have been killed in separate road crashes.

A women in her 70's and a man in his 30's have died in separate collisions.

The woman was a passenger in one of two vehicles that collided on the N5 in Swinford yesterday evening.

The man driving the car was seriously injured and taken to Mayo University Hospital.

The man driving the other vehicle was transferred to Galway University Hospital, also in a serious condition.

Gardaí are urging anyone who was travelling on the N5 between Swinford and Charlestown between 4 and 4.45 yesterday - especially those with dashcam footage - to come forward.

Meanwhile a man in his 30s has been killed in a road crash in Co. Kilkenny.

The single vehicle incident happened at Clonmantagh in Freshford at around half one this morning.

The driver died after his car struck a stone wall.

A male passenger in his early 40s was brought to University Hospital Waterford with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
