Tragic news coming from the north west
(SourceLTwo people have been killed while taking part in a Co Sligo rally, Motorsport Ireland has confirmed.
The Sligo Stages Rally was halted following a serious traffic incident that took place earlier this afternoon.
In a statement, Motorsport Ireland said it extended its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of two competitors.
The incident happened at the sixth stage of the rally at around 3pm.
Gardai are requesting that footage of this collision is not shared across social media or messaging applications.
Anyone with video footage is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
