Tributes have been paid to Waterford rally driver Craig Breen following his death in a crash yesterday.

He was participating in a pre-test event ahead of the Croatia Rally when the incident happened.

His co-driver James Fulton was unharmed.

Art McCarrick, Sporting Manager at Motor Sport Ireland said Craig was among the top drivers in the world:

"Craig had nine World Rally Championship podium finishes, including six 2nd place finishes. To put it into context of where he was in the sport, there's only three manufacturer teams at the top of the World Rally Championship, and he was in one of those."
