A 'debris field' has been discovered in the search for the missing Titanic submarine

The US Coastguard says a 'debris field' has been discovered within the area being searched for a missing submersible in the North Atlantic Ocean.

It was found by a Remotely Operated Vehicle near the Titanic's wreckage.

Officials say they will hold a press conference at about 3pm local time (approx 8pm Irish time).

Five people were on The Titan when it disappeared on Sunday as it descended to the famous liner. Contact with the submersible was lost about an hour and 45 minutes into its dive.

Experts in the search team are now evaluating the latest information.
