The US House of Representatives has voted to force TikTok's parent company to sell the company or face a ban.
ByteDance has been accused repeatedly of having links to the Chinese Government - despite repeated denials.
The bill will now go to the Senate for approval, with lawmakers there saying it will go through a thorough review.
It's understood that while the ban would only be in America, it would affect Ireland too.
ByteDance employs a number of people in Ireland, and their jobs could be at risk as a result.
Meanwhile, much of the US content we consume would start to disappear from the platform.
However, Irish creators on the app should still remain.
