The bonus was awarded to frontline workers for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thousands of frontline healthcare workers are still waiting for their 1,000 euro Covid-19 bonus.

That's according to Nursing Homes Ireland, which says the delay is completely 'unacceptable'.

They say there's no clarity on when the payment will be processed.

Today marks eight months since the government announced the recognition payment.

Tadhg Daly, chief executive of Nursing Homes Ireland, says it's 'disrespectful' to healthcare workers:

"We're now eight months on from the announcement. This was announced on the 19th of January."

"It was in recognition of the work that people did on the frontline and clearly the nursing home sector was very much on the frontline."

"It is unacceptable at this moment, but it's also disrespectful to the people who have worked in nursing homes throughout the pandemic."
