A status yellow high temperature warning is in place for the country this morning.
Met Eireann says there'll be very warm and humid weather of over 27 degrees until 8am tomorrow.
Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel says there's a chance of reaching a record heat today.
'During the course of the afternoon in one or 2 locations, those temperatures may push a little bit higher so maybe 28 or 29 degrees and there is an outside chance of temperatures pushing up to 30 degrees Celsius, which of course if it does reach that record, it will be the all time record for the month of September broken in an Irish meteorological context.'
