The HSE is advising the public to consider all options when looking for treatment

The HSE is expecting a spike in demand today due to the St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

With increased attendance at emergency departments, its advising the public to consider all options when looking for treatment.

Trolley numbers appear to be climbing again after dipping from the record high seen in early January.

Dr. Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer of the HSE, says hospitals will have the staff in place to deal with increased demand:

"We have always seen our decision makers, consultants in hospitals over weekends or bank holidays providing continuous cover. To enable greater flow of hospitals we need not just senior decision makers but also support network around them to ensure we get those investigations done that patients need and to ensure that we want to get patients home, to free up beds."
