Senior managers faced a grilling from TDs and senators earlier this week, over secret payments to presenter Ryan Tubridy
The government is planning a major restructure of RTÉ as they're reportedly planning to appoint its own auditor to examine RTÉ finances.
The Sunday Independent reports the Media Minister is considering invoking special powers to do so, in the wake of the Ryan Tubridy payments scandal.
There are also unconfirmed reports in the Irish Mail on Sunday that there are plans to split the broadcaster in two.
Also, they report 2fm could be sold to a private bidder which could result in up to 400 redundancies.
It also reports that salaries will be capped at €176 thousand, and Ryan Tubridy will be asked to hand back the €345 thousand he received in a secret deal.

It comes as the chair of the RTÉ Board and the incoming Director General confirm they will meet with the Media Minister in the coming days.
Meanwhile, yesterday RTÉ's own staff were calling for the broadcaster to reanalyse its relationship with 'talent' agents.
The Ryan Tubridy payments scandal has led to questions being raised about the influence of agents within RTÉ.
Secretary of RTÉ's Trade Union Group and staff member, Cearbhall Ó Síocháin says staff have been raising the matter with management for years.
"We've had a problem with that for a long time with undue influence that agents and third party contracts are handled and we've consistently made that clear to management that it distorts the perception of salaries in RTÉ. There are people in RTÉ that are struggling to make ends meet."
