It comes as the State doesn't have space to accommodate an additional 350 international protection applicants.

The EU Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism requires member states to take in refugees, or to pay up if they can't.

Finance Minister Michael McGrath says the State's capacity to provide accommodation is under severe pressure.

'The pressure we are under is well known, we are now accommodating about 85 thousand people, about 65 thousand of whom are from Ukraine and about 20 thousand international protection  applicants, so people are very much aware of the pressure's that are there particularly around accommodation all over the country.'
