Lynsey passed away last Thursday following a five-year struggle with cervical cancer
Mother of two Lynsey Bennett died last Thursday at the age of 34 following a five-year battle with cervical cancer.
The Longford native was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer in January 2017 - following an alleged misreading of her previous smear tests.
As a result of the delayed diagnosis, Bennett took a High Court case against the HSE and legal action against the US lab that analyzed her slide.
Her legal team claimed that it was allowed to grow and spread unchecked due to the delay in diagnosing it.
The Cervical Check campaigner eventually settled for an undisclosed sum with the Cervical Check program expressing ''deep regret'' to Bennett.
Cervical cancer affects an estimated 290 women in Ireland with almost 90 of those succumbing to the disease every year.
Her funeral mass takes place in St John's Church, Battery Road, in Longford town at 12 noon today, she is to be laid to rest in an adjoining cemetery afterward.
