Ten food businesses were shut down by the Food Safety Authority last month.
Reasons for the closures include a rat infestation, a significant amount of rat droppings, and personal items such as a duvet and blankets in a food storage unit.
In one case, a product described as 'nut free' was being sold in a premises containing nuts and peanuts with inadequate procedures to avoid cross-contamination.
The businesses are in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, and Offaly.
