A teaching union is going to advocate for a special allowance for teachers who live in cities or urban areas.
A similar scheme is already in place in London where teachers can receive up to 10 thousand euro extra.
The INTO, which represents primary school teachers, is going to negotiate for the allowance.
London reporter Vincent McAviney says it's been in place for many public servants in London for years:
"I was quite surprised that you didn't have this when I heard about this earlier. This is pretty common right across the civil service when it comes to police officers, doctors, nurses, this is something that has been around for a long time in the UK."
