Nearly 60 per cent of people with acne are embarrassed by how they look.

That's the finding of new Citrine Healthcare research as part of Acne Awareness Month.
It reveals almost 40 per cent of Irish people have suffered with the condition during their lives.
59 per cent of both men and women were worried about people judging them because of how they look.
Nearly 60 per cent of people with acne are embarrassed by how they look.
The condition mainly affects the face, upper back and chest.
Sarah O'Leary, Sales Director at Citrine, says treatment can take a few months to work:
'The doctors will always say that you should leave it up to twelve weeks to ensure that the treatment is working.'
'I know that can be difficult, particularly when you're younger and you're a teenager.'
