The student grant increase is to come into effect shortly.
Further and Higher Education Minister Simon Harris says the government wants to put money back into the pockets of families who have children going to third level.
College students are set to benefit from an increase in the maintenance grant from next week.

Grants will rise, post-graduate grants will return for the first time in 13 years, and the stipend will increase for SFI-IRC researchers.

Some undergrads will see their funding rise by nearly €350 while the grant will be re-instated for postgrads who will receive more than €2,000.
Minister Simon Harris says they want to tackle the high cost of education at a time when money can be tight for some:
"All of these measures, coupled with the reduction in college fees for full-time undergraduate students, will really help families put money back in their pockets at a time when I know that cost-of-living pressures can be real and acute for many."
