Students in Sligo have been left feeling 'frustrated' and 'anxious' as a significant amount of student accommodation will no longer be available from September.
Between four and five hundred students lived in the Benbulben and Milligan Court complex.
The owners of the student complex notified tenants via email earlier this month, as it plans to use the apartments to house refugees.
President of A-T-U Student's Union Dáire Martin says the area was already facing a student accommodation shortage:
"Naturally they're very frustrated, they're anxious and their emotions are really shining through here."
"Deposits still haven't been returned to a lot of students so we're seeking legal advice on that."
"There's a lot of other things we're doing, we've written to all accommodation providers in the local area to seek confirmation they'll be honouring the student bookings for next year".
"We're really doing everything we can to get these students who've lost their homes to get a bed for next year."
