New research suggests that belting out a few tunes can help to beat workplace stress.
A new study of HSE workers who are part of a choir shows that getting involved in choir groups can help with mental health and work-related stress.
Apparently spending some time singing can be an antidote to hospital pressures and can lead to positive mental health results by distracting the mind from stressful situations.
Dermot O'Callaghan, who is the CEO of Sing Ireland, says even if you don't have a particularly strong singing voice, hitting the high notes is good for personal wellbeing:
"If you form a choir in the workplace it automatically brings people together and also brings people away from that stressful work-life where things are building up on them. Getting involved in an activity such as group singing really enables [people] to look at their working day in a slightly different way."
