A status yellow low temperature and ice warning has been issued for the entire country

The weather warnings will come into effect at 7 o'clock this evening and remain in place until 11 o'clock tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann is warning people people to be mindful of difficult travelling conditions and animal welfare issues.

Temperatures are set to fall as low as -5 degrees during the week, with more cold weather on the way.

Deirdre Lowe from Met Éireann warns that it's going to be cold tonight with icy patches in place.

She's also warning that as the week goes on "it's actually going to get even colder, particularly Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday Night."

Met Éireann reports that there's already been a dusting of snow in Donegal.
