Over 250,000 people called St Vincent de Paul last year
The charity St Vincent de Paul, which offers support to those in poverty have announced that calls to the charity have doubled over the past decade.
Last year the number of calls reached over 250,000.
Support Development Officer Brendan Hennessy says that one of the biggest issues for people at the moment is fuel poverty.
The charity celebrates its 180th anniversary in the Dublin Convention Centre this weekend and former president Mary Robinson will be a keynote speaker at the event and will outline some of the challenges facing the society in the near future.
