A team from the Irish Defence Forces is understood to have travelled to Turkey as part of plans to return the Irish woman - who has links to Islamic State.
The Irish Mail on Sunday reports officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs met Turkish officials to assess her return, along with her two-year-old daughter.
She escaped from a Kurdish forces camp in northeast Syria last month and is now believed to be held near the Turkish border.
