Gardaí say they came under attack last night at the site of a house earmarked for asylum seekers in County Wicklow.
It's reported Gardai were verbally and physically abused throughout the day at Trudder House, escalating to rocks and other missiles being thrown.
Fires had been lit and an axe was recovered at the scene, which is due to accommodate international protection applicants.
The public order unit was brought in as the situation intensified with shields and pepper spray deployed. Around 50 gardaí were at the scene in Newtownmountkennedy.
Three patrol cars were damaged with windows broken and tyres slashed while six people were arrested.
Gardaí say they're also aware of misinformation and disinformation being spread in relation to the incident.
