Parents should expect their children to get sick as they go back to school.
Students return to the classroom in less than two weeks, and it's likely there'll be an increase in colds and flus.
Paediatric Consultant, Niamh Lynch, has advised families to prepare by purchasing some medicines in advance.
However, she says it shouldn't be a cause for concern:
"It's inevitable and I don't think we need to fear it. It's normal for children to get infections."
"So the average pre-schooler will have one viral infection a month during the viral season - from September/ October to April, they'll have on average one infection a month."
"That's average, so some kids will get it every two weeks, some might only get one every six weeks."
