The incident happened this afternoon
There's been a serious incident on the train line in County Mayo this evening.
A car was hit by a train on the line near Ballyhaunis at around a quarter past 3 this afternoon.
190 passengers were on board the 12.45 Heuston to Westport train when it struck the car at the Prendergast level crossing between Ballyhaunis and Claremorris.
All passengers remain on the train this evening and Iarnrod Eireann is hoping they'll be removed shortly - no one on the train was injured.
It has bus transfers in place between Claremorris and Ballyhaunis which will remain for the rest of the day.
Gardai and emergency services are at the scene.
Update: Bus transfers are en route to the 12.45 Heuston/Westport. Bus transfers expected to operate Ballyhaunis/Claremorris/Ballyhaunis for remaining Westport services this evening as a result. -AD https://t.co/oyu6H0eYbG
