Europe's energy crisis has just taken a turn for the worse
This morning Russia announced its massive gas pipeline the Nordstream One has faults.
And will not re-open as planned today.
The announcement came just hours after the G7 group agreed to cap the price of Russian oil over its invasion of Ukraine.
The G7 is a group of the world's richest countries.
EU officials are now accusing Moscow of using 'gas as a weapon'.
Aoife Foley is a Professor in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queens University Belfast - she agrees that markets will view the move with deep distrust:
"This is really an energy war at this stage...the Ukrainian-Russian war has escalated into an energy war in Europe, I suppose it's a new form of war now."
There's some good news for Ireland after we agreed on a last-minute deal with Norway.
