It comes after the broadcaster admitted to undeclared payments to Ryan Tubridy between 2017 and 2022.
The payments totalled 345-thousand euro, and have been described as a serious breach of trust.
RTE has confirmed the former Late Late Show host will not present his radio show today.
Seamus Dooley from the National Union of Journalists says it'll be tough for RTE to start re-building trust.
'What we need at this stage is a comprehensive explanation from the Director General and the executive board of what happened. We have had a comprehensive statement from the board of RTE, the Chair has given a public interview. The RTE board did not to my knowledge sign off on the agreement, and therefore responsibility rests with the full time executive board and we need to know who made this decision and why it was made.'
