Gardaí say a sizeable quantity of cash was taken.
A cash-in-transit robbery at a bank in Mullingar, Co Westmeath has taken place this morning.
The incident happened when cash was being delivered from a van to the bank in the town at around 10.30am on Blackhall Street.
As the employee was leaving a person emerged from a black vehicle and took the box from him.
They got back in the car which drove in the direction of Longford.
The car was later found burnt out at Sonna Ballynacargy.
