The Road Safety Authority's advising road users to prepare for cold weather conditions this morning.
Met Eireann's issued a yellow warning for cold temperatures and icy patches across much of the country this morning, leading to hazardous conditions on roads and footpaths.
The RSA's David Martin says drivers need to reduce speed - and other road users need to be visible and take sensible precautions.
'Pedestrians walk on the footpath not on the street, I know that sounds very obvious but please do that. People who cycle on motorcycle if the roads icy ya know if you're a cyclist pedal smoothly and relax your upper body, try not to get out of the saddle if it's slippy and always remember to break before corners and stay alert at all times, stopping conditions are worse in icy conditions.'
