Two people killed in separate road crashes in counties Louth and Mayo

Two people have been killed in separate road crashes in counties Louth and Mayo.

A woman in her 20's died when the van she was a passenger in, hit a tree at Carnalogue in Co. Louth just before 2 o'clock this morning.

A second passenger , a man also aged in his 20's, suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí say no other injuries were reported.

The woman's body remains at the scene this morning where a technical examination will take place.

Meanwhile in Co. Mayo a man in his 40's was killed in a single vehicle collision in on the N17 at Lisduff Claremorris yesterday evening.

Forensic collision investigations are underway at both scenes and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
