Remote control shock collars for cats and dogs will soon be banned.
The Agriculture Minister has announced his plans, which won't affect owners who already use one.
Charlie McConalogue says his officials will set up a process for people to register the dog they use it on.
However, he says this ban will protect puppies going into the future.
It's understood the ban won't affect the type of collars that shock animals when they try to cross a yard or garden perimeter.
