The girl was hospitalised last month.

Two parents who are accused of child cruelty have been further remanded in custody at Dublin District Court today.

The Court heard the couple face further possible charges after a nine year old girl was seriously injured in North Dublin last month.

The girl was brought to hospital on July 2nd after being found with serious injuries at a home in North Dublin.

Her parents came before Dublin District Court for a second time today -having initially appeared last Friday.

The 35 year old mother was last week charged with two counts of child cruelty, while the 37 year old father was charged with one count of child cruelty.

An application was today made to further remand the couple in custody for a period of one week - which the defence agreed to.

Det Sgt. Eoin McDonnell told the court they may face further possible charges. Judge John Hughes remanded them in custody to appear again on August 21st.
