''I'll give you a prediction of a recession in Ireland, the chances of a recession are 100%.''
The chances of a recession in Ireland are 100 per cent, according to the head of the National Treasury Management Agency.
Conor O'Kelly has said in the long term the nature of Ireland's open economy means it's open to shocks.
TDs have heard there needs to be a plan and contingencies in place for an economic downturn.
CEO of the NTMA Conor O'Kelly said many things could damage Ireland's future, ''we're in the permanent contingency business in Ireland with the debt that we have,'' he said.
''So whether it's brexit, or Italy or something that we can't think of today that'll end up hitting.''
He went on to predict what he believes are the chances of a recession in Ireland.
