A prisoner is at large in Dublin after escaping while in custody this morning.
The prisoner escaped while being escorted to St James Hospital.
The Irish Prison Service says Gardai were notified immediately and given all the relevant details about the prisoner.
This prisoner is aged in his early 20s is from West Dublin and at least two prison officers were with him but he managed to escape.
He is currently serving an 8 and a half-year jail sentence for assaulting a homeless man and has around 30 previous convictions.
The IPS is currently investigating the circumstances of the escape.
