Integration Minister Roderic O'Gorman has encouraged refugees to consider other countries
A Co Laois-based priest says refusing Ukrainians shelter who are fleeing war, is a "scandal".
Fr. Paddy Byrne says buildings, such as parish halls, could be used as accommodation.
It comes as Integration Minister Roderic O'Gorman is encouraging refugees to consider other countries, as Ireland can no longer guarantee housing.
The parish priest says these people deserve our support and resources:
"There have been huge numbers of Ukrainian refugees fleeing absolutely terrible situations and coming to Ireland.
"I think, generally, most people are decent in their attitude and accept the fact that those who come from war-torn places certainly deserve the benefit of shelter and to avail of our resources."
