The photos were taken inside the mortuary.
Police are investigating reports that photographs of footballer Emiliano Sala's dead body were posted on social media.
The images appear to show the striker's remains at a mortuary in Bournemouth after he was killed in a plane crash in January.
It's understood that mortuary employees are not being investigated. It's been suggested someone may have broken in to the building in the UK, where the star's body was resting after it was recovered in February.
The 28-year-old footballer was travelling in a light aircraft en route from Nantes to Cardiff when the plane crashed.
Police say they're 'disgusted' at the images, which were posted on Twitter.
Sky's Phil Edwards has details from a statement from the local council;
"We are revolted by this heartless act and can't understand why another would do such a vile and hurtful thing.
We are, of course, supporting Dorset police in their investigation in any way that we can, and will continue to provide any assistance required."
