Pharmacists want to write prescriptions for patients with common conditions - without the approval of a GP.
It follows an expansion of the role of pharmacies in England and Scotland.
Patients there are able to get prescription medicines and oral contraception without seeing their doctor first.
It's in an effort to free up appointments in GP surgeries.
Pharmacy owner Sheena Mitchell says there are a range of conditions pharmacists could prescribe for:
"Sore throats, for sinusitis, impetigo which is a common skin infection in children. For shingles, urinary tract infections, ear ache and infected skin bites."
"I'm actually distraught at the thought of facing another winter like we had last year. This is why I think these conversations are really important now."
"The Government are about to go on their summer break, and I'm distraught at the thought that they've done nothing since last winter. Prompt action is needed."
