There has been a 65 percent increase in the number of callouts for rodents in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year.
Figures from Rentokil show Cork, Dublin, Clare, Galway and Mayo have had the most callouts so far, with Cork accounting for 28 percent of all calls.
The other four counties made up 24 percent between them.
Rentokil's Area Technical Manager, Colm Moore, says the increase is normally seen in September, not now:
"We had a sixty four percent increase in call outs, which is really unusual."
"That could be because the population that was building up last year, there was a higher survival rate."
"We've also had very very wet conditions."
