Photo by Pensioners and local authority tenants will not lose their medical card if they rent a room to college students.
Government has approved the extension of the income disregard for the Rent A Room scheme, which now also extends it to local authority tenants.
The weekly gross medical card income threshold is currently 550 euro a week for single people and 1,050 for couples.
