One in ten people say the promised increases to the state pension is not enough money to entice them to work for longer.

The research shows that women are less inclined to stay in the workforce than men.

Changes to the State Pension system were announced by the Government last September, and come into effect from next January.

Nat O'Connor, policy specialist with Age Action, says a more fair and flexible system is needed:

'It should be a case of choice and control for older people, some people they chose to work'.

'We know that some people, well a lot of people would like to move to a part time, and ease the transition from work into retirement rather than all or nothing.'
