The Public Expenditure Minister insists TV licence fees still need to be paid despite recent controversies at RTE.
There was around a €900,000 drop in revenue from fees in the first week of August compared to 2022.
Minister Paschal Donohoe says there's swift clarity and transparency needed from RTE to restore trust.
However, he says it's still expected people will abide by legal requirements and pay the fee:
"For those who are considering paying their television license at the moment, it is still the law that you do pay."
"So can I understand why some are taking the decision not to? Of course I do understand, but it is still so crucial that television licenses are paid in the time ahead."
