57% of the total number of card payment values were contactless
The use of online and mobile banking payments have hit record numbers.
Contactless payments continue to surge, with 49 million euro worth of these payments per day.
The Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland says online or mobile banking volumes grew to 36 million payments.
Its Head of Payments Gillian Byrne says more people are going contactless because they want to:
"I think the contactless payment valiance is extremely interesting.
The data shows there's a continued surge in the customer preference for using this method of payment and it's now actually the preferred to pay by card.

We're all tapping to pay for our daily purchases."
