A major new Garda recruitment drive will get the go-ahead from government today.
(Source: Wikimedia Commons)Commissioner Drew Harris is seeking approval to hire almost 1,000 new members of the force by the end of this year.
The plan being presented by the Justice Minister at today's cabinet meeting will see 4 tranches of 225 new recruits entering Templemore at 11 week intervals, joining the already 200 trainees currently at the college.
The recruitment drive will begin on Friday.
