An electrical short-circuit most likely caused the Notre Dame Cathedral fire, French judicial police official investigators think.
The Sun reports that an official investigator, who spoke anonymously about the ongoing probe, said investigators still don’t have the green light to work in the cathedral and search in the rubble for safety reasons.
The anonymous man said the monument is still being consolidated with wooden planks to support some fragile parts of the walls.
The iconic building caught fire on Monday and caused catastrophic damage to the centuries old structure.
Firefighters said the inferno was so severe that the whole building was within minutes of total destruction.
Since the blaze, billionaires have pledged a staggering £886 million to help rebuild one of Europe’s most spectacular buildings.
However, the donations haven't sat well with a certain percentage of the population, who believe the money could be better used in other areas including environmental protection and tackling climate change.
