The fallout from the ending of the evictions ban continues today with the Labour party set to table a motion of no confidence in the Government.

The ban comes to an end on April first after yesterday's Dail vote.

However the coalition lost one of its own TD's with Green Deputy Nessa Hourigan now suspended from her party for 15 months for voting against the Government.

One homeless charity says the situation for renters is now 'very difficult'.

Wayne Stanley from the Simon Communities of Ireland says the latest measures to alleviate the housing crisis may not work:

"We don't know if some of the capacity that the Government are attempting to put in through the local authorities is going to materialise. It's very very difficult, even to provide additional emergency accommodation at the moment. "

"Again, we're going to be working hard to make sure that people are safe and are kept safe. That's our job, we're on the front line of this."

"But it's really really difficult and it's a dark day."
